MOE says 13 principals and headmasters were convicted between 2021 and 2025, involving abuse of power, financial mismanagement and sexual offences.

PETALING JAYA: A total of 13 criminal cases involving school principals and headmasters were convicted in court between 2021 and 2025, the Education Ministry said.

Its minister, Fadhlina Sidek, said the cases comprised one offence of abuse of power, eight related to financial management, three sexual harassment cases and one khalwat offence.

“We view such misconduct seriously, and each conviction will be reviewed by the Disciplinary Authority to determine the appropriate action based on the facts of the case,” she said in a written parliamentary reply to Kalam Salan (Sabak Bernam-PN), who had asked for the number of principals and headmasters convicted in court for offences involving abuse of power, financial mismanagement, sexual crimes and other misconduct.

She added that among the disciplinary punishments imposed were salary reduction, demotion and dismissal.
