KTMB releases 46,000 extra EMUPlus tickets for the Chinese New Year holiday period to meet overwhelming passenger demand on key routes.
KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has released an additional 46,000 EMUPlus train tickets to accommodate surging travel demand during the Chinese New Year holiday.
This follows the complete sell-out of 132,000 tickets previously made available for journeys between February 13 and 22.
Chief operating officer Afzar Zakariya stated the new tickets went on sale from midnight last night.
He made the announcement during an appearance on Bernama TV’s ‘Malaysia Petang Ini’ programme.
The increased capacity is enabled by the arrival of seven out of ten new ETS3 train sets.
An additional EMUPlus service has also been added for the KL Sentral-Ipoh route.
This service takes three hours and 15 minutes with tickets priced at RM35.
Afzar noted the JB Sentral-KL Sentral route is among the most popular.
It connects major economic and tourism hubs like Iskandar Puteri, Johor Bahru, and Singapore.
