The Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation opens a new Kuala Lumpur office in Cheras, aiming to strengthen community safety networks and enhance crime prevention coordination.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) has opened a new office in Taman Ikan Emas, Cheras.

The launch coincides with the foundation’s 33rd anniversary this year.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail officiated the opening of the MCPF Kuala Lumpur Office.

The event was attended by Bandar Tun Razak MP Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Fadlun Mak Ujud, city police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus and MCPF Kuala Lumpur chairman Datuk Azman Abidin.

Saifuddin Nasution, who is also MCPF chairman, called on the foundation to continue serving as a strategic collaborative platform. He emphasised its role in uniting government, security authorities, the private sector and the community to help curb crime.

MCPF Kuala Lumpur chairman Datuk Azman Abidin said the new office symbolises the foundation’s commitment to strengthening community safety. He stated it would enhance coordination of crime prevention programmes in the capital.

“The existence of the premises is very meaningful because it will function as the heart of administration, a strategic discussion space, as well as a centre for implementing inclusive community programmes,” he said. He added this aligns with the well-being values of the Malaysia MADANI framework.

Azman, who is also the Prime Minister’s political secretary, revealed that MCPF Kuala Lumpur is a key contributor to crime prevention activities. He said the chapter implemented 84 programmes in 2025, about 20% of the MCPF’s total 430 programmes nationwide.

“Our main focus is still on high-impact programmes in schools, the corporate sector and grassroots communities,” he said.

He stated the MCPF is committed to leading the crime prevention agenda through strategic collaboration. This involves empowering communities through education, training, and targeted programmes.

The foundation also forges close cooperation with the public and private sectors. Azman said this ensures the objective of creating security and harmony in the community can be achieved, especially in the Federal Territory.

He hopes the new office will catalyse more awareness initiatives and early intervention. The goal is to reduce crime rates and increase the sense of security among the community.
