Mum shares touching video of teacher helping son with walking disability join school sports day for the first time

A mother has shared a heartwarming video of her 13-year-old son taking part in his school sports day for the very first time.

In a post on Threads, Anie Ariff uploaded a clip showing a male teacher gently assisting her son, Muhammad Hadif, who has a walking disability.

Facing him and holding both his hands, the teacher encouraged Hadif to attempt a slow jog in the 50-metre event, guiding him step by step towards the finish line.

“For the first time, my child was able to take part in the school sports day, in the 50 metres. Thank you to the teachers who worked so hard for these special children. I hope that one day my child will be able to hold and guide the hands of the teachers who have helped so much,” she wrote.

In the video, teachers, pupils and parents can be heard clapping and cheering him on, chanting, “Boleh, boleh!” (“You can do it!”). The teacher continued to motivate Hadif, encouraging him that there was only a little more to go before reaching the finish line.

Hadif was seen beaming with joy, clearly delighted to be taking part in the sports day like any other child.

The touching moment also moved many online. Netizens flooded the comments section with messages of support and congratulations.

“Yay! You did it!” wrote Fatin Diana, adding clapping emojis.

Another user, Shasazzyz, said she always looks forward to her children’s school sports days, especially to see children with special needs participating happily in their own way.

“I love seeing how dedicated and patient the teachers are, together with the parents of all these ‘anak syurga‘ (children of heaven). It truly humbles me. And then… I always end up crying watching them stand tall, complete the march-past, and sing the song just like everyone else,” she shared.

Many also expressed their appreciation for supportive and compassionate teachers, noting the vital role they play in building children’s confidence and self-esteem.
