Following the launch of the Golf GTI Mk8 facelift (commonly known as the Mk8.5) in November last year, the 2026 Volkswagen Golf R-Line Mk8.5 is now available in Malaysia, priced at RM 185,990.
As part of an early bird offer, the first 50 customers will enjoy RM 6,000 off, bringing the price down to RM 179,990. This price includes the Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP), which covers five years of free maintenance, a five-year or 150,000 km warranty, and five years of roadside assistance.

Buyers who opt out of the Volkswagen Assurance Package can purchase the Golf R-Line at RM 176,580 on-the-road without insurance. However, doing so reduces warranty coverage to two years and removes the five-year free maintenance programme.
Power comes from a 1.5-litre eTSI mild-hybrid turbocharged petrol engine producing 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dry-clutch DSG transmission driving the front wheels. Volkswagen claims a 0–100 km/h sprint time of 8.6 seconds, with power delivery aided by XDS electronic differential locking.

Exterior highlights include IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlamps at the front and IQ.LIGHT 3D LED tail-lights at the rear. The R-Line rides on newly introduced 17-inch Coventry alloy wheels wrapped in 225/45 R17 Bridgestone Turanza T005 tyres.
Inside, the Golf R-Line features R-Line fabric and ArtVelours microfleece upholstery. The cabin is centred around a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen with built-in navigation and a redesigned, more responsive interface, paired with a seven-speaker sound system.

Instrumentation is handled by a 10-inch Digital Cockpit Pro display, while a head-up display and wireless charging are also included.
Safety equipment includes seven airbags and Volkswagen’s IQ.DRIVE driver assistance systems, comprising autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, side assist, travel assist and rear traffic alert. Two ISOFIX child seat anchors are provided for the rear outboard seats.
