He had kept the mandarin orange in his fridge for almost a week.
A Malaysian man received an early dose of festive cheer ahead of Chinese New Year after striking third prize in a Sports Toto 4D draw — thanks to the numbers written on a mandarin orange.
In a post on Threads, the man shared that he had the mandarin orange with the numbers scribbled 8826 on it and had kept it in his fridge for almost a week.
“Kept it in the fridge for almost a week+, finally today got a bit of luck… Heng ong huat ah,” he wrote, using a Hokkien phrase commonly associated with prosperity and good fortune.
His ritual appeared to pay off.

According to the Sports Toto 4D results dated February 11, 2026 (Draw No. 6089/26), 8826 emerged as the third prize winning number.
Photos accompanying the post showed the winning ticket alongside the mandarin orange bearing the same handwritten digits — a sight that amused many netizens.
The post quickly drew waves of congratulatory comments.
“Wow, 3rd prize ah. Ong ongg,” one user exclaimed.
Another chimed in enthusiastically, “Heng aa ong aa huat ahhh.”
Meanwhile, one cheeky commenter joked, “Angpau boss..” — playfully hinting for a share of the winnings.
