SARA aid distribution runs smoothly with RM100 credited to over 22 million recipients, featuring more product categories and 10,000 partner outlets.
PUTRAJAYA: The Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) redemption process has proceeded smoothly since credits began last Monday. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil confirmed there have been no issues with system accessibility.
He attributed the smooth rollout to thorough preparations by the implementing partner, MyKasih. Fahmi expressed satisfaction that the programme began without any problems.
“SARA can be used until December 31 of this year. Alhamdulillah, it began without any problems,” he said at the Ministry of Communications’ monthly assembly.
He highlighted that the variety of available products is greater than in previous iterations. The list now includes frozen goods among its expanded categories.
The number of participating retail outlets has also increased significantly to 10,000 premises. This includes various grocery stores and small retail shops.
Fahmi urged for any feedback on SARA’s implementation to be channelled immediately. This would allow for swift improvements through the Ministry of Finance.
“I hope colleagues at the Ministry of Communications, especially the Information Department and MCMC through NADI, will convey this information to the grassroots level,” he added.
He assured that any reported issues would be forwarded to the MOF for action. The SARA Untuk Semua programme began distribution on February 9.
It involves a total allocation of RM2.2 billion. The initiative benefits over 22 million adult Malaysian MyKad holders.
Each recipient receives a one-off RM100 payment. This credit can be utilised until December 31, 2026.
The government has enhanced purchasing facilities by expanding product categories to 15. The inclusion of frozen foods is a key addition to the list.
Officials are also targeting 10,000 small retail shops to become SARA Business Partners by year’s end. This expansion aims to improve accessibility for all recipients.
