Harry Kane’s brace and 500th career goal powered Bayern Munich to a 3-0 win at Werder Bremen, restoring their six-point lead at the Bundesliga summit.

HARRY Kane scored twice in the first half as Bayern Munich cruised to a 3-0 win at Werder Bremen, restoring their six-point lead atop the Bundesliga table. The victory was a clear response after Borussia Dortmund had closed the gap to three points a day earlier.

Kane gave Bayern the lead from the penalty spot after 22 minutes, marking the third consecutive match he has opened the scoring with a penalty. He doubled the advantage just three minutes later, sneaking a low shot in off the post for his 500th career goal for club and country.

“500 is a great number — a lot of hard work and dedication has gone into it,” Kane told reporters. “All I can say is thanks to all of my teammates and managers over the years — and I look forward to the next 50, the next 100.”

Leon Goretzka added a third in the 70th minute to seal the dominant victory. Bayern captain Manuel Neuer was substituted at half-time with a calf issue, but sporting director Max Eberl described it as “a precautionary measure” and “nothing dramatic.”

The England captain now has 26 goals in 22 Bundesliga games this season and 41 in all competitions. Bayern lined up without the suspended Michael Olise for the first time in 89 matches since his 2024 arrival.

Elsewhere, Hoffenheim tightened their grip on third place with a 3-0 home win over Freiburg. Goals from Fisnik Asllani, Ozan Kabak and Valentin Gendrey secured the victory for the village club, who are on course for Champions League football after narrowly avoiding relegation last season.

An Ermedin Demirovic double propelled Stuttgart to a 3-1 home win over Cologne, lifting the German Cup holders into fourth. “I’m the striker. I score the goals,” Demirovic said after his match-winning performance.

Bayer Leverkusen climbed to fifth with a 4-0 thrashing of St Pauli, their fifth win in six games. Eintracht Frankfurt also enjoyed a 3-0 home victory over Borussia Moenchengladbach, handing new coach Albert Riera his first win.
