Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim urges Malaysians to safeguard peace, stating it is the fundamental pillar for economic growth and social development.
IPOH: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on Malaysians to safeguard the nation’s peace as the essential foundation for all progress.
Speaking at a Chinese New Year celebration, Anwar stated that Malaysia’s unique multi-ethnic harmony must be preserved for the country to advance.
“We want to show our society and our children that if Malaysia is to progress, enjoy economic growth, improve education and have better hospitals, we must preserve peace in this country,” he said.
He emphasised that peace is the paramount priority, warning that conflict could destroy even a wealthy nation.
Anwar highlighted the nation’s uniqueness, with a population of over 34 million from various ethnic groups living together peacefully.
This unity, he said, is reflected in cultural performances during festive celebrations that showcase diversity as a symbol of strength.
He extended his wishes for good fortune in the Year of the Horse during the event at SJKC Chong Hwa Kanthan Baru.
Also present were Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming and Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.
At the event, Anwar presented a RM500,000 cheque from the Housing and Local Government Ministry for local infrastructure works.
The allocation will fund road resurfacing, public facility upgrades, and house repairs in Kampung Baru Kanthan.
