Hundreds gather outside Sogo in KL for Turun Azam Baki rally calling for MACC chief to step down
KUALA LUMPUR: Hundreds gathered in the city centre today for the “Turun Azam Baki” rally in front of SOGO on Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, calling for Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Tan Sri Azam Baki to step down from his post.
The demonstration, scheduled to begin at 4pm, marks the second round of protests against Azam. A similar rally was held in 2022.
Dressed predominantly in black, protesters assembled amid heightened political tension over recent allegations involving the MACC chief.
Several MPs have already arrived, notably government backbenchers including Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail and Subang MP Wong Chen.
Acting Muda president Amira Aisya Abdul Aziz is also present. They are expected to address the crowd later.

Earlier, international news outlet Bloomberg reported that Azam owned shares in a financial services company, based on corporate filings with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM).
However, the MACC chief clarified at a recent press conference that his RM800,000 shareholding in the financial services firm was conducted transparently and in accordance with proper procedures.
