Sabah’s chief minister pledges firm action to prevent the state from becoming a drug transit hub, following a major RM240 million seizure by authorities

TUARAN: Sabah will take firm action against any attempt to turn the state into a transit point for drug trafficking.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the tough stance follows the recent dismantling of an international drug syndicate operating in the state.

He stressed that the state government views drug trafficking as a serious threat.

“I have contacted the Inspector-General of Police to ensure strict action is taken against the cartels and syndicates involved,” Hajiji told reporters.

He was speaking after opening a kitchen garden tour programme here.

“We cannot allow Sabah to become a transit point or hub for drug trafficking,” he added.

Hajiji emphasised that enforcement efforts must be strengthened through comprehensive inter-agency cooperation.

He called for tighter controls at all entry points into the state to curb smuggling effectively.

“Sabah must not be allowed to become a transit state for trafficking,” he said. The Chief Minister commended the police for their success in recent operations.

Last Friday, the Royal Malaysia Police seized various drugs in several locations across Sabah.

The haul from Op Coleoptera and Op Bayu 2 is estimated to be worth more than RM240 million.
