Hillary Clinton accuses Donald Trump of a cover-up over Epstein files and calls for public testimony, as both Clintons are set to give depositions.

BERLIN: Hillary Clinton has accused former president Donald Trump of orchestrating a “cover-up” over the release of files related to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In a BBC interview published on Monday, the former US secretary of state demanded full transparency ahead of her scheduled congressional testimony.

“Get the files out. They are slow-walking it,” Clinton told the broadcaster in Berlin, where the interview was conducted.

She and her husband, former president Bill Clinton, have been ordered to give closed-door depositions to the House Oversight Committee.

The committee is probing Epstein’s connections to powerful figures and how information about his crimes was handled.

“We will show up but we think it would be better to have it in public,” Hillary Clinton said.

She added that she wanted the process to be fair and for everyone to be treated the same way.

The Justice Department released a cache of over three million documents, photos and videos related to Epstein last month.

Both Clintons and Trump are mentioned in the files, though no evidence has implicated them in criminal activity.

Hillary Clinton asserted that she and her husband have repeatedly called for the full release of all files.

“We have nothing to hide,” she stated.

She accused Republicans of using the investigation to deflect attention from Trump.

“Look at this shiny object. We’re going to have the Clintons, even Hillary Clinton, who never met the guy,” she said.

Trump has denied any wrongdoing and said he has been “totally exonerated”.

He responded to Clinton’s distraction claim by telling reporters he had nothing to do with it.

Bill Clinton has acknowledged flying on Epstein’s plane for humanitarian work in the early 2000s.

He has stated he never visited Epstein’s private island.

Hillary Clinton said she had no meaningful interactions with Epstein and never visited his island.

She confirmed meeting Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell “on a few occasions”.

Maxwell was convicted of conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse minors.

The Department of Justice has said it has no more files to release.

Lawmakers have criticised the department for not publishing internal government memos and emails on the case.

Hillary Clinton is scheduled to appear for her deposition on February 26.

Bill Clinton is set to appear before the committee on February 27.
