Sultan Abdullah calls for Pulau Tioman to be a top priority, highlighting lagging infrastructure and urging immediate, well-planned development.
KUANTAN: The Sultan of Pahang has declared that Pulau Tioman must be given comprehensive priority in the state’s development agenda.
Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah stressed the island should no longer be treated as a neglected, faraway area.
His four-day visit to the island is to personally observe its situation and development progress. The Sultan emphasised that Pulau Tioman is a valuable asset and a gem of Pahang that must be preserved and developed in a well-planned manner.
He expressed deep concern over the island’s lagging basic infrastructure. Al-Sultan Abdullah highlighted roads in poor condition, unreliable electricity, incomplete water supply and substandard housing.
“If we compare in terms of infrastructure, Pulau Tioman is still lagging in basic facilities,” he said in a statement. The Sultan stated it is time that full attention is given to Pulau Tioman.
