A Chinese New Year fireworks festival at the Madani recreational park in Kampung Baru Ayer Tawar attracted over 5,000 people, highlighting community unity.
KG BARU AYER TAWAR: More than 5,000 visitors gathered at the Madani recreational park for a Chinese New Year fireworks festival last night.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said the event boosted festive cheer and strengthened multiracial unity.
“The fireworks festival reflects the spirit of togetherness among people of different races, cultures and faiths in our country,” he said in a statement.
Nga, who is also the Kepayang assemblyman, said it is this diversity that forms the nation’s unique strength.
He noted Kampung Baru Ayer Tawar is increasingly recognised as a community hub.
The village was previously crowned champion in a new village beautification competition.
“Organising events like this helps stimulate social and economic activities in the area,” Nga added.
He said it also promotes the unique identity of new villages as national heritage.
Also present were Beruas MP Ngeh Koo Ham and Pantai Remis assemblyman Wong May Ing.
