A witness to a family murder in Kuantan claims to have heard an argument before a man allegedly killed his wife, mother, and two young daughters.

KUANTAN: A witness to a tragic family murder in Cerating Damai here claims to have heard an argument before the incident unfolded. Kuantan police chief ACP Ashari Abu Samah said the witness, the suspect’s youngest brother, gave his initial statement.

The witness reported hearing the incident at about 7 am while in his bedroom. He then came out to find his mother covered in blood and screaming for him to get help.

The witness sought help from his uncle, who lived nearby. Upon returning to the house, they found all the victims and the suspect covered in blood and unconscious.

The house was occupied by eight family members, including the suspect, his wife, two daughters, his mother, and three younger brothers. Only six family members were present at the time of the incident.

Police checks found the 32-year-old suspect had no record of mental treatment or previous criminal offences. Initial investigations suggest the suspect first attacked his 33-year-old wife, Nurul Asshiykin Kamaruzaman.

He then allegedly attacked his 55-year-old mother, Tuan Kamaria Tuan Puteh, and his two daughters, aged four and two. The suspect is believed to have then turned the weapon on himself and died at the scene.

Injuries on the victims included wounds on the hands, ears, and neck. Police seized a 29-centimetre knife from the scene.

The autopsies of the suspect and his wife were conducted yesterday. Post-mortems for the mother and two children continued today.
