
34 traders in Chow Kit request deferment of move to Raja Bot Market Complex, citing incomplete construction and business continuity concerns
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 34 premises owners in Lorong Haji Hussein, Chow Kit, are requesting a deferment of their relocation order to the Raja Bot Market Complex.
They want the move postponed until the long-abandoned development project is fully completed to ensure business continuity.
Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said most traders agreed with the relocation in principle.
However, they insisted the complex must be finished first, as it has been abandoned for nearly 10 years.
“If small traders are moved in at this time, no one will be able to do business because construction work is still ongoing,” he said in a Facebook post.
Johari, who is also the Titiwangsa MP, said he would bring the matter to the attention of Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Fadlun Mak Ujud.
The issue follows earlier concerns from traders at the Raja Bot Market, better known as Chow Kit Market.
