
Severe weather warnings are in effect for Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and seven states until 7 pm, with thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds forecast.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a severe weather warning for the capital, Putrajaya and seven states until 7 pm today.
The alert, issued at 2.55 pm, forecasts thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds for the affected regions.
In Peninsular Malaysia, the warning covers Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and several districts in Selangor. The Selangor districts are Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang.
The alert also extends to parts of Pahang and Johor. The affected Pahang districts are Raub, Bentong, Temerloh, Bera and Rompin.
In Johor, the warning is for Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai and Johor Bahru.
In Sabah, the interior districts of Tenom, Beaufort, Nabawan, Keningau and Tambunan are on alert. The warning also covers the West Coast areas of Papar, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran, as well as Tawau.
Numerous divisions in Sarawak are also expected to be impacted. These include Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah and Limbang.
The warning also covers Kapit (Song), Bintulu and the Miri division, specifically the areas of Subis, Beluru, Miri and Marudi.
