MOSCOW: Russian forces intercepted and destroyed 113 Ukrainian drones overnight.
The defence ministry confirmed the large-scale operation took place from Wednesday to Thursday.
One drone attack targeted an oil refinery in Velikiye Luki, approximately 500 kilometres west of Moscow.
Regional governor Mikhail Vedernikov said the strike caused a fire in an oil storage tank.
Initial reports indicated no injuries among civilians or refinery staff from the attack.
Ukraine has conducted a sustained campaign of retaliatory strikes on Russian energy infrastructure.
These attacks target oil refineries, ports, and other key facilities.
The drone assaults come as both sides concluded two days of US-brokered talks in Geneva.
Officials described the negotiations aimed at settling the four-year war as “difficult”.
No breakthrough was announced following the discussions.
