Police detain five men and one woman after a brazen early morning robbery, captured on video, shocks the Shah Alam community.

SHAH ALAM: Police have arrested six individuals in connection with a knife-point robbery that was captured on video and spread widely on social media.

The incident occurred along Jalan Plumbum in Section 7 here. Shah Alam police chief ACP Ramsay Embol said authorities received a report about the viral footage on Feb 16.

The robbery took place at approximately 5.30 am that same morning. The victim was an Indonesian woman who was approached by the suspects while she was walking to dispose of rubbish.

Police subsequently arrested five men and one woman, aged between their 20s and 40s, at about 9 pm to assist with the investigation. The suspects were detained together with a red Perodua Axia believed to have been used in the crime.

Estimated losses from the robbery are between RM350 and RM500. The case is being investigated under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery and armed robbery.

ACP Ramsay urged anyone with further information to contact investigating officer Insp Mohamad Sabri Abd Rani. In a separate and unrelated case, police are tracking a man who disguised himself as a woman before breaking into a house, also in Section 7.

Police received a report yesterday afternoon from a woman in her 20s who rents the house with a friend. Investigations found the break-in occurred on Feb 18 at about 9.26 am when the property was unoccupied.

CCTV footage showed the suspect wearing women’s clothing, including a headscarf, and carrying a handbag. Despite the house being left in disarray, police confirmed no items were stolen from the premises.

A 34-second video of this incident also went viral online. It shows a man wearing a headscarf climbing over a door grille to adjust a CCTV camera outside a house.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for house-breaking.
