
A woman in her 50s was detained after allegedly stabbing her mother in the neck with a sharp object in Johol, with police citing possible mental health issues.
KUALA PILAH: A woman in her 50s has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her elderly mother in the neck at their home in Kampung Segineh Inas, Johol.
Kuala Pilah district police chief Supt Muhammad Mustafah Hussin said police were alerted to a fight at the residence at about 7.08 pm yesterday.
The victim, in her 80s, was taken to Rembau Hospital for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
Initial investigations indicate the suspect used a sharp object, believed to be a can opener.
Muhammad Mustafah said the suspect may have mental health issues, but the motive is still under investigation.
The case is being probed under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means.
