The Defence Minister says no abuse was found in the soldier’s death and urges against politicising the issue while investigations proceed.

JOHOR BAHRU: Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin has stated that no elements of abuse or bullying have been detected in the death of military personnel Trooper K. Indiran.

He said this conclusion was based on the results of a post-mortem conducted earlier today.

“Do not politicise this issue; let the matter be investigated first,” he told reporters after an event in Pasir Gudang.

Mohamed Khaled added that he did not rule out forming a special committee to investigate the matter if it becomes necessary.

The call for a probe follows a request from Penang MIC for a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the 22-year-old’s death.

Indiran was found unconscious on February 18 while undergoing an armour crew course at Kem Batu 10 in Kuantan, Pahang.

He was pronounced dead the following day while receiving treatment at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital.

The deceased was the son of Major C. Kayamboo, a Royal Malaysian Air Force pilot killed in a 2016 aircraft crash.

Indiran is expected to be laid to rest beside his father at the Batu Lanchang Indian Cemetery today.
