Barcelona coach Hansi Flick urges his squad to share responsibility for recent poor results as key players return for crucial Levante clash.

BARCELONA: Coach Hansi Flick has told his Barcelona players they must feel a sense of responsibility for the team’s recent slump ahead of Sunday’s La Liga match against Levante.

The Catalan giants are reeling from two damaging defeats, including a 4-0 Copa del Rey thrashing by Atletico Madrid and a 2-1 league loss to Girona.

Those results have allowed rivals Real Madrid to open a two-point lead at the top of the table.

Flick emphasised the importance of open communication and shared leadership within the squad during a press conference.

“I think everyone is convinced about what we are doing, of course in these moments it’s not easy,” Flick told reporters.

He explained his management style involves asking players for input, not just issuing instructions.

“We were very honest and also very open, it’s not only me telling them what to do, I want to ask them.”

Flick stated he wants players to feel accountable for the team’s situation on the pitch.

“I want the players to feel the responsibility about this situation, and I think they do.”

The team receives a significant boost with the return from injury of key attackers Pedri Gonzalez and Marcus Rashford.

Rashford returns after a fortnight out with a knee problem, while playmaker Pedri has missed a month with a hamstring injury.

“The positive thing is Rashford is back, Pedri is back,” said Flick.

He highlighted Pedri’s unique qualities and future importance to the club.

“He’s an important player for us, he’s a different kind of leader because of his quality.”

Flick also confirmed that young midfielder Gavi is back in training after undergoing knee surgery last September.

Real Madrid visit Osasuna on Saturday aiming to extend their lead before Barcelona host Levante at Camp Nou.
