
The number of flood victims in Sabah has fallen to 3,266 people from 1,401 families, down from 5,141 people this morning.
KOTA KINABALU: The number of flood evacuees in Sabah has decreased significantly to 3,266 people from 1,401 families this afternoon, down from 5,141 people from 2,160 families recorded at 8 am today.
According to the Sabah State Disaster Management Secretariat, all victims from the districts of Pitas, Paitan and Tawau are now housed at 24 temporary relief centres.
Pitas district remains the worst affected, sheltering 2,171 evacuees, followed by Paitan with 850 people and Tawau with 245 people.
The floods have impacted a total of 60 villages across the three districts, though no fatalities have been reported so far.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms for several areas in Sabah’s interior this evening.
