
Thunderstorms with heavy rain and strong winds are forecast for multiple Sabah areas until 4 pm today, says MetMalaysia.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a severe weather warning for several areas in Sabah.
The alert, valid until 4 pm today, forecasts thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds.
Affected areas include the Interior district of Nabawan, the West Coast, and Tawau’s Lahad Datu.
The warning also covers Sandakan’s Kinabatangan, Beluran and Sandakan districts, as well as Kudat.
MetMalaysia issues such warnings when signs indicate thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20 millimetres per hour.
These conditions are expected to be imminent or persist for more than an hour.
Thunderstorm warnings are short-term alerts valid for no more than six hours per issuance.
