Food delivery rider receives thoughtful sahur meal from customer, sparking praise for her generosity during Ramadan
IN the holy month of Ramadan, giving sadaqah — acts of charity — is not limited to Muslims in Malaysia’s multicultural community.
In a heartwarming Threads post, food delivery rider Kimi Suhaimi shared how he received an unexpected act of kindness from a customer during his 2 am shift today.
The thoughtful customer, Devily Chen Xinying, had placed a McDonald’s order during dinner time and sent several messages via the ride-hailing app.
She explained that she had ordered a nasi lemak with fried chicken and a hot Milo drink specifically for the rider to enjoy for sahur, while her own order of a burger, corn and a small Milo was for herself.
She insisted that he take the meal intended for him and leave hers at the pick-up point of her residence. “Have a good sahur later! Abang, please take the meal, don’t say ‘no’. I really ordered it for the rider who delivers my food,” she wrote.
Kimi explained that it might have been his sahur blessing, as he had to wait at the outlet for nearly an hour.
“I joked with the girl, saying maybe the chicken was frying while chatting. Turns out my order wasn’t even made — it hadn’t gone through. I told her they’d just started preparing it. I was so patient, and so was she, in the spirit of Ramadan,” he shared.
Expressing his gratitude to the kind customer, Kimi’s post drew praise from netizens.
“She ordered a meal set that was even better and more expensive than the one she chose for herself. She genuinely tried to give her best — you could really see her sincerity,” Rhea commented.
“Blessings this Ramadan for the rider. I’ve noticed that during Chinese New Year, most Chinese people really want to give charity too,” another user wrote, highlighting the spirit of generosity across communities.
