Housing Minister Nga Kor Ming joins firefighters for sahur, cooking meals and pledging continued support for the department’s 15,000 personnel nationwide.
KUALA LUMPUR: Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming continued his annual Ramadan tradition by sharing sahur with firefighters at the Seputeh Fire and Rescue Station.
He personally prepared kuetiau, roti canai and teh tarik while mingling with personnel during the predawn meal.
This marks the second year of the initiative, which began last Ramadan at the Jalan Hang Tuah Fire and Rescue Station.
Nga said the programme would continue as a gesture of solidarity and moral support.
“They are extraordinary individuals,” he told reporters.
“Whenever disaster strikes, they are on the front line and among the first to arrive at the scene, serving as a pillar of safety for the nation.”
He noted that with Hari Raya approaching, many firefighters had frozen their leave to prepare for any eventuality.
“Their sacrifices, service and contributions must always be remembered and appreciated,” Nga added.
Also present were JBPM Director-General Datuk Seri Nor Hisham Mohammad and Kuala Lumpur director Hassan ‘As’ari Omar.
Twenty fire and rescue station chiefs from the federal capital also attended the event.
Nga added that the ministry remains committed to ensuring JBPM’s assets and equipment nationwide are in optimal condition ahead of the festive season.
