Johor Royal Press Office alerts public to fake TikTok accounts using AI to mimic Sultan Ibrahim’s voice, promoting fraudulent Ramadan financial aid.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Johor Royal Press Office has issued a public warning over fake social media accounts using artificial intelligence to impersonate His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim.

The RPO detected several fraudulent TikTok accounts that utilise AI technology to mimic the voice of the King of Malaysia.

In a statement on the official Facebook page of Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, the office said the content features a voice resembling His Majesty’s and makes false claims about financial assistance for Ramadan.

“The public is advised to remain vigilant and not be easily influenced by these fake accounts, which are often used by scammers for fraudulent purposes on social media platforms,” the statement said.

It further stressed that impersonation and misuse of identity constitute offences under Malaysian law.

Checks on the platform revealed at least two videos uploaded by the account @bantuan.rakyat.ma6.

These videos used images and an AI-generated voice closely resembling that of Sultan Ibrahim to promote the alleged aid scheme.
