Illegal reconnections after disconnection caused a five-day power outage in Taman Permata, with the Selangor government planning to seize the identified units.

SHAH ALAM: Illegal electricity connections have been confirmed as the cause of a recent prolonged power disruption at Taman Permata in Dengkil, Sepang.

Selangor Housing and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said checks revealed several units had illegally reconnected their supply after being cut off.

Temporary repair work supervised by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and carried out by Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB) was completed yesterday evening.

Full power supply to the area has now been restored.

“Illegal connections not only affect the electricity supply system but carries serious safety risks, including fire and electrocution,” Borhan said in a statement.

He added that the state government will take several joint actions following the incident.

This includes impounding the identified units immediately after an official list is received from TNB.

The outage had left residents without electricity for five days.

Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu voiced concerns over the situation last Sunday.
