MetMalaysia issues a severe weather warning for four states, Kuala Lumpur and Labuan, with thunderstorms and strong winds expected.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a severe weather warning for several states and federal territories.

Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are forecast to hit four states as well as Kuala Lumpur and Labuan until 11 pm tonight.

In Perak, the warning involves the districts of Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim.

The alert also covers several areas in Pahang, namely Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut and Bentong.

In Selangor, the affected districts are Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat.

For Sarawak, the warning includes Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei (Pakan), Sibu (Selangau), Mukah, Bintulu, Miri (Telang Usan) and Limbang.

In Sabah, the alert involves the Interior, West Coast, Sandakan (Beluran) and Kudat districts.
