KRUBONG: Johor Darul Ta’zim booked their place in the Malaysia Cup semifinals with a commanding 3-1 victory over Melaka FC at the Hang Jebat Stadium.
The win secured an overwhelming 8-1 aggregate triumph for the Southern Tigers in the quarter-final tie.
Corbin Ong opened the scoring in the seventh minute, calmly finishing a pass from Jairo De Macedo Da Silva.
The visitors doubled their lead in the 30th minute through Jairo De Macedo, who latched onto a Joao Figueiredo pass.
De Macedo then headed home his second goal of the night in the 54th minute to put the match beyond doubt.
Melaka FC pulled a goal back late on through Ahmed Ayman Shamsaldin, who finished a Che Rashid Che Halim pass.
JDT will now face KL City FC in the competition’s last four.
