A Malaysian couple’s pure watermelon juice with no water or ice goes viral on Threads, selling out

WHAT started as a lighthearted question on social media has turned into an overnight sensation for a Malaysian couple, after the wife’s post about her husband’s unconventional watermelon juice concept attracted tens of thousands of responses and sent customers queuing at their stall.

The woman, who goes by the handle @aidayasmin_1 on Threads, shared her husband’s plan to sell pure watermelon juice — with no added water whatsoever.

Even more intriguingly, he refused to dilute the experience with ordinary ice. Instead, the ice cubes used in the drink are made entirely from frozen watermelon juice, ensuring every sip remains undiluted from the first to the last.

She put the concept to her followers with a simple question, half-jokingly admitting she could not decide whether her husband’s idea was brilliant or misguided.

“Do you all think you would buy the drink?” she asked. The response, it turned out, was a resounding yes.

The post rapidly gained traction across social media, and by the following day the couple found themselves overwhelmed by the turnout at their food stall, Nasi Lemak Kak Jah, located in Kampung Batu Muda.

“We just asked if it was okay to do this. Suddenly, so many people showed up. We did not do much today,” she wrote in a follow-up, expressing genuine surprise at the scale of the response.

Despite the unexpected rush, she was quick to thank all those who had come and waited patiently in line.

The stall sold out entirely, and she announced they would not be opening on Wednesday, February 25, but would return on Thursday, February 26, InsyaAllah.

For those who make the trip, the couple is also offering more than just the viral juice — their menu includes ayam golek and nasi lemak served with seven varieties of sambal.

As of the time of writing, the original Threads post had accumulated approximately 68,700 likes and around 3,000 comments.

Most responses were overwhelmingly positive, with followers praising the creativity of the concept, wishing the couple abundant rezeki, and — most commonly — asking for the exact location so they could try it themselves.
