IPOH: Malaysia is on a solid trajectory under the Madani government framework, according to Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.
He cited significant economic achievements and reform measures under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership.
Nga highlighted a surge in foreign investment and a record national trade value of RM3.05 trillion.
“The performance of the ringgit is now the best currency in Asia,” he said at the DAP Ipoh Timor Chinese New Year Dinner.
He noted the ringgit strengthened from 4.80 to 3.88 against the US dollar and made gains against the Japanese yen and Indonesian rupiah.
Malaysia’s Global Competitiveness Index ranking also jumped from 34th to 23rd place globally.
“These achievements clearly show that Malaysia is now on a solid path,” Nga told the crowd of over 3,000 attendees.
He urged the public to maintain the momentum of ongoing growth and reform initiatives.
The minister also outlined institutional reforms, including limiting the Prime Minister’s term to 10 years.
Other key reforms involve separating the roles of the Attorney General and the Public Prosecutor.
The government also passed a constitutional amendment for equal citizenship rights for children born abroad to Malaysian mothers.
The dinner event raised RM33,520 for the DAP Ipoh Timor constituency.
