Three federal mosques in Malaysia will hold special prayers for peace in Gaza and the Middle East following recent escalations in the region.

PUTRAJAYA: Three major federal mosques will hold special prayers this evening in solidarity with those affected by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) announced that Solat Hajat and Qunut Nazilah will be performed after Maghrib prayers at the National Mosque in Kuala Lumpur, Putra Mosque, and Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque in Putrajaya.

JAKIM director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee said the initiative is a manifestation of concern and compassion for the suffering endured by those affected by the prolonged humanitarian crisis.

“In this blessed month of Ramadan, prayer becomes a spiritual strength, which unites the hearts of believers,” he said in a statement.

He expressed hope that the effort would invite divine blessings and help, grant strength to those being tested, and bestow peace and justice upon the world.

The call for nationwide prayers was earlier echoed by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also stated on social media that Malaysia prays for the well-being of all communities affected in the Middle East.

This gesture of solidarity follows a series of military escalations over the weekend involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

Reports indicate that US and Israeli strikes targeted locations in Iran, including Tehran, while Iran launched retaliatory strikes on Israeli territory and US facilities in the region.
