Hamas and Islamic Jihad condemn a “heinous” US-Israeli attack that killed Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei, warning of serious regional repercussions.

GAZA CITY: Hamas has condemned what it called a “heinous” US-Israeli attack that resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The Palestinian Islamist movement issued a statement mourning Khamenei’s passing and praising his support for their cause.

“We in Hamas mourn the passing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who provided all forms of political, diplomatic and military support to our people, our cause, and our resistance,” the group said.

It declared that the United States and Israel bear full responsibility for what it termed a blatant aggression and crime against Iran’s sovereignty.

The statement further warned that the attack would have serious repercussions on the security and stability of the entire region.

Militant group Islamic Jihad, which fought alongside Hamas in a two-year war against Israel in Gaza, also condemned the killing.

Islamic Jihad labelled Khamenei’s death a “war crime” committed by the US and Israel in what it described as a treacherous and malicious attack.
