KTMB announces 26 additional train services for Aidilfitri, adding over 105,000 seats to meet high demand for festive travel.

KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will operate 26 additional train services from March 17 to 29 to accommodate the surge in passengers returning home for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The railway operator stated that 18 Electric Train Services (ETS) and eight EMUPlus services will be added following the near sell-out of existing tickets for the festive period.

Ten of the additional ETS trips went on sale at noon today, with the remaining 16 trips to be announced soon.

These extra trains will provide 8,118 seats daily, including business class options, contributing a total of 105,534 additional seats over the operating period.

Overall, KTMB will offer 285,714 seats across 70 trips daily during the celebration, averaging 21,978 seats per day.

The additional ETS services include eight trips on the JB Sentral-KL Sentral-JB Sentral route and six trips on the Ipoh-KL Sentral-Ipoh route.

Two extra trips each will also operate on the Butterworth-KL Sentral-Butterworth and Padang Besar-KL Sentral-Padang Besar routes.

For EMUPlus services, eight additional trips will operate on the Ipoh-KL Sentral-Ipoh route during the same period.

KTMB will also provide the East Coast edition of its Aidilfitri Express Service (ELA), operating on the KL Sentral-Tumpat route on March 18 and the return journey on March 22.

This service offers 792 tickets, including sleeper coaches, with fares starting from RM80 to RM95.

The Northern edition of the ELA will operate on the KL Sentral-Padang Besar route on March 17 and 22, and the return journey on March 18 and 23.

This service offers 1,200 tickets at a one-way fare of RM70.

Tickets can be purchased cashlessly via the KITS Style app, the official KTMB website, or kiosk machines at selected stations.

Passengers are encouraged to plan their journeys early to avoid last-minute ticket shortages.
