South London singer-songwriter returns with defiant single Walk, about reclaiming power and walking away
AT her most direct and unfiltered, South London singer-songwriter Skye Newman has returned with the sharp and defiant single Walk, a track that unfolds with a lyrical confrontation as patience is snuffed out and self-preservation begins.
A song that recognises emotional damage for what is it is, Walk was written by Skye Newman alongside long-time collaborators Boo and Luis Navidad, and marking her first collaboration with Chrissi, the single continues Newman’s reputation for turning lived experience into sharply observed songwriting.
Lyrically, Walk traces the imbalance of a relationship in vivid detail, as Newman captures frustration, humiliation and emotional exhaustion with a bluntness that feels conversational and typically honest.
Lines are delivered without embellishment as she documents defending someone at her own expense, chasing loyalty that is never returned and finally drawing a clear boundary. The repeated image of walking becomes literal and symbolic: a final act of reclaiming control.
“Walk is about taking back your power when a relationship is no longer serving you, putting your heels on and walking away,” said Newman on the single’s release.

Chart success and rising global profile
Prior to Walk, Newman’s recent releases cemented her impact on both charts and culture as Family Matters peaked at number five, spent seven weeks in the Top 10 and is certified Gold, while Hairdresser reached number 15 and remained on the chart for 14 weeks, also achieving Gold status.
Skye has amassed over 1.5 billion short-form video views, supported Lewis Capaldi across the UK and Ireland, appeared on stage with Ed Sheeran in Ipswich and joined Sienna Spiro on her EU tour.
Later this year, in December, Skye Newman will head to Australia to open for Harry Styles on his Together Together tour.
Beyond music, Skye was recognised by British Vogue as one of 8 Artistes to Watch in 2026 and named by Elle UK as One to Watch for 2026.
