Pakistan claims 435 Afghan troops killed and over 630 injured in recent border conflict, with significant military hardware destroyed.

MOSCOW: Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has stated that 435 Afghan soldiers were killed in recent border clashes.

He posted on social media platform X that over 630 Afghan troops were also injured in the fighting.

Tarar added that the Pakistani military destroyed 188 tanks, armoured vehicles and artillery guns during the conflict.

The clashes followed Pakistani airstrikes last week on suspected militant hideouts in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar and Paktika provinces.

Afghan authorities said those airstrikes killed and wounded dozens of civilians.

In response, Afghanistan launched a military operation against Pakistani bases along the Durand Line border on Thursday night.

Pakistan then announced the launch of Operation Ghazab lil Haq in response to what it called “unprovoked shelling” by Afghanistan.

The Afghan Defence Ministry announced the end of its military operation against Pakistan on Friday morning.

It claimed Afghanistan had delivered “decisive strikes” in response to Pakistani “aggression” that killed innocent civilians.

The ministry said 55 Pakistani soldiers were killed while putting Afghan losses at eight dead and 13 wounded.
