The flood situation in Sabah has improved significantly with evacuee numbers falling drastically from 363 to just 82 people by this afternoon.
KOTA KINABALU: The flood situation in Sabah has shown marked improvement with a drastic reduction in the number of people displaced to relief centres.
The Sabah disaster management committee secretariat reported that only 82 individuals from 29 families remained at the Dewan DUN Banir relief centre in Beaufort as of 4 pm today.
This figure represents a massive reduction from the 363 evacuees from 133 families who were recorded at the same centre just eight hours earlier at 8 am.
The secretariat confirmed in a statement that all remaining evacuees are being housed at the Dewan DUN Banir centre, which was first opened on Feb 25.
Only five villages remain affected by flooding this evening, a significant improvement from the 93 villages that were impacted this morning.
