A traffic officer in Pahang has been remanded for four days on suspicion of soliciting and receiving bribes totalling RM30,000.

KUANTAN: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has detained a traffic officer suspected of soliciting and receiving approximately RM30,000 in bribes.

An MACC source stated the male suspect, in his 30s, was arrested when he presented himself to give a statement at the Temerloh MACC office yesterday afternoon.

Preliminary investigations indicate the offences were allegedly committed in 2024 and 2025, with bribe payments deposited into the suspect’s personal bank account.

The officer is suspected of accepting money from several individuals and lorry company owners in return for protecting them from legal action.

Magistrate Nuur Fakhizaa Abu Bakar at the Temerloh Magistrate’s Court today granted the MACC’s application to remand the suspect for four days until March 6.

Pahang MACC director Mohd Shukor Mahmud confirmed the arrest when contacted by Bernama.

The case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
