Bahrain opens volunteer registration for health, engineering, and logistics roles to support national efforts amid ongoing regional conflict with Iran.
MANAMA: Bahrain has called on residents to register as volunteers to support national efforts across multiple sectors amid ongoing regional hostilities.
The government announced on Wednesday that volunteer opportunities are available in fields including health, engineering, logistics, administration, and oversight.
A statement published by the Bahrain News Agency directed interested individuals to the National Volunteer Platform at volunteer.gov.bh.
The campaign, titled “Bahrain is Safe… As Long as You Are Its People”, is open to both citizens and foreign residents, who comprise more than half of the kingdom’s population of roughly 1.5 million.
The volunteer website explicitly calls on people to support national efforts in confronting hostile Iranian attacks against the Kingdom of Bahrain.
This call comes as Iran continues a retaliation campaign involving missile and drone strikes across the Gulf region and towards Israel.
Thirteen people, including seven civilians, have been killed in countries around the Gulf since the conflict began, according to reports.
The Pentagon has announced the deaths of six US servicemen since Saturday, with four of those fatalities occurring in Kuwait.
Iran has targeted US military assets in Bahrain, alongside strikes on the airport, residential buildings, and hotels that have killed one civilian.
Bahrain, a Sunni-ruled monarchy with a Shiite majority, is strategically located between regional rivals Iran and Saudi Arabia.
The nation cut diplomatic ties with Iran in 2016 following attacks on Saudi diplomatic missions in Iran.
Although the two countries agreed to launch negotiations on restoring relations in 2024, those talks have since stalled.
The kingdom also faced significant internal unrest in 2011, when protests demanding an elected government led to a widespread crackdown on dissent.
