The Malaysian embassy in Qatar advises citizens near the US embassy in Doha to relocate due to a security threat, while urging vigilance.

DOHA: The Malaysian embassy in Doha has urgently advised its citizens residing near the United States embassy to seek alternative shelter following a credible security threat.

The embassy issued a notice on its official Facebook page, informing the community of a potential attack risk targeting the US embassy located in Al Rayyan.

“All Malaysians residing within a 1.5 kilometre radius from the embassy are advised to seek shelter elsewhere,” the official notice stated.

While the embassy described the overall situation in Qatar as currently calm, it strongly urged all Malaysians in the country to remain vigilant and exercise caution.

For those requiring immediate assistance, the embassy provided its 24-hour emergency contact number at +974 3374 6733 and the email address mwdoha@kln.gov.my.

This advisory aligns with precautionary measures taken by Qatari authorities, who have begun evacuating residents from the area surrounding the US diplomatic mission.

The US embassy in Qatar also posted a warning on social media platform X, stating, “Out of an abundance of caution, please avoid the immediate area of the US Embassy.”
