A wanted man with 23 criminal records died after a shooting and vehicle pursuit in Klang, with police detaining the driver of a four-wheel drive involved in the incident.

SHAH ALAM: Selangor police have confirmed one man died following a shooting and subsequent vehicle pursuit in Taman Seri Kapar, Klang.

State police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the deceased, a passenger on a motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel while the rider sustained injuries.

Initial investigations revealed the incident began when the two men on the motorcycle opened fire on an employee of a four-wheel drive vehicle driver in Kampung Perepat, Kapar.

The suspect in the four-wheel drive then pursued the motorcycle onto Jalan Keretapi Lama.

Shazeli stated that when one of the motorcycle occupants pointed an object resembling a gun, the suspect rammed their vehicle into the bike, causing both riders to fall and be dragged.

Police checks confirmed the detained 49-year-old driver of the four-wheel drive has past criminal records related to drugs and offences under Sections 302 and 307 of the Penal Code.

The deceased passenger was found to have 23 past records for serious crimes including murder, attempted murder, and gang robbery.

The injured motorcycle rider, who has 10 criminal records, is also a wanted person under Section 130V of the Penal Code.

The driver has been detained and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

A 13-second video showing a man lying on a road, believed to be related to the incident, has gone viral on social media.
