Government expands Rahmah Madani Sales to 50 items, improving access to essential goods ahead of Ramadan and Aidilfitri

PUTRAJAYA: The government has directed the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) to increase the number of items offered under the Rahmah Madani Sales programme to a minimum of 50, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today.

Anwar said the move aims to expand access to essential goods for the public, particularly during the Ramadan period and ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

“I have instructed KPDN to increase the number of items sold at each Rahmah sales programme from about 40 items to a minimum of 50.

“This also takes into account the higher demand for fresh goods during Ramadan as households prepare for the upcoming Hari Raya celebrations.”

Anwar said this during his address at the monthly assembly of KPDN here.

He said the Rahmah sales initiative remains a key government effort to ensure the public can obtain essential goods at affordable prices.

He noted that the programme has expanded significantly over the past year.

“Throughout 2025, a total of 25,708 Rahmah Madani Sales programmes were implemented nationwide, recording 27,534,770 purchase transactions.

“I deliberately mention this because sometimes people see it as something ordinary, as if it is just routine government work,” he said.

Anwar thanked KPDN personnel for their efforts in implementing the initiative, particularly during Ramadan when the number of programmes has increased significantly.

“Imagine that during this Ramadan alone, the Rahmah Madani Sales programme involves 1,898 series of events.

“Without a committed machinery, it would mean you are working perhaps three or four times harder than in previous months,” he said.
