Sunway Pyramid celebrates Raya 2026 with textile heritage, AR experiences, and community crafts
STEP into Sunway Pyramid this Raya season and you may find yourself transported through time. The mall’s latest festive campaign, Seindah Corak Aidilfitri, transforms its LG2 Blue Concourse into an immersive tribute to the artistry of traditional Malaysian textiles — weaving together cultural heritage, modern technology and community spirit under one roof.
Running from February 27 to March 29, the campaign draws its inspiration from the intricate craftsmanship of songket, tenun, batik and tekat — heritage weaving traditions that have been passed down through generations of Malaysian artisans. Through thoughtful design and curated installations, Sunway Pyramid has given these age-old patterns a contemporary platform, making them feel both timeless and newly discovered.

At the heart of the concourse is a specially assembled display of original Malay songket and traditional textiles, some dating as far back as the 1920s. The collection was put together by renowned textile collector Mohammad Khairulanwar Rahmat, and offers visitors an intimate glimpse into the depth and continuity of Malaysia’s weaving legacy.
The display goes one step further by merging tradition with technology. In a collaboration with Sunway University, visitors can scan QR codes positioned throughout the concourse to activate an Augmented Reality (AR) experience that reveals the stories, techniques and cultural symbolism woven into each textile motif — giving younger visitors, in particular, a meaningful way to connect with their heritage.
For those seeking a more tactile connection to the past, the concourse also features traditional games including congkak and batu Seremban, alongside festive photo opportunities at the water fountain area.
Jason Chin, Senior General Manager of Sunway Malls Selangor, described the campaign as a deliberate effort to honour the full breadth of the Raya experience. “From festive retail experiences and nostalgic traditional games to meaningful acts of giving and immersive cultural showcases, Seindah Corak Aidilfitri brings together the many facets of the season under one roof,” he said.
Chin also noted the campaign’s relevance to international visitors arriving during Visit Malaysia Year, describing it as an opportunity for tourists to gain a deeper appreciation of Malaysia’s textile artistry and bring home handcrafted pieces that carry the spirit of the season.

The festive spirit extends to retail, with the Raya Market by Sukaseni set up at LG1 Foyer, Oasis, offering shoppers a curated selection of Raya essentials and handcrafted local finds to complement their festive preparations.
A community-minded element also runs through the campaign. The mall’s Spend & Redeem programme features a SURI Handmade Raya Pouch, crafted in collaboration with SURI Lifestyle — a Malaysian social enterprise that empowers single and underprivileged mothers through sewing and livelihood training.
Thirty mothers from Klang and Langkawi handcrafted the pouches, preserving traditional skills while earning supplementary income. Shoppers who spend RM250 and above in a single day may redeem one of these pouches, with higher spending tiers unlocking additional rewards including enamel pin blind packets, Sunway Super App points and a picnic blanket.
