KPDN raids a Johor warehouse, confiscating suspected fake health screening devices worth RM1.33 million following a trademark complaint.

JOHOR BAHRU: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has seized suspected counterfeit health screening products valued at RM1.33 million following a raid on a warehouse and packaging centre.

KPDN Enforcement director-general Datuk Azman Adam said the operation was conducted by the Putrajaya Enforcement Division in collaboration with Johor KPDN after receiving a complaint from a trademark owner’s representative.

“The inspection results found that the building was storing various health screening products using a brand that was suspected to be counterfeit and believed to be for distribution and sale to consumers,” he stated in a press release.

Among the seized items were various models of automatic blood pressure monitors, nebulizers, digital thermometers, digital scales, pulse oximeters and blood glucose meters.

Azman explained that a large quantity of the products were suspected of using registered trademarks without the permission of the legitimate owner.

A local woman claiming to be the premises manager was detained to assist with the investigation after officials issued an inspection statement and seizure declaration.

The case is being probed under the Trademarks Act 2019 for the suspected use of a registered trademark without the rightful owner’s consent.
