Malaysia’s embassy in Doha helps citizens stranded in Qatar travel to Jeddah by bus as part of a wider evacuation effort from conflict zones.
DOHA: The Embassy of Malaysia in Doha has facilitated the movement of stranded Malaysians from Qatar to Jeddah by bus.
This forms part of the ongoing evacuation arrangements ordered by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Before departure, Ambassador Faizal Razali addressed the group and thanked them for their cooperation. He stated their support helped ensure a smooth evacuation process.
The National Security Council confirmed the government is in the final phase of preparations to evacuate citizens from several conflict-affected countries.
The operation is being coordinated with the Foreign Affairs Ministry through Malaysia’s diplomatic missions.
According to ministry records, 641 Malaysians remained stranded in several affected countries as of March 8. A total of 24,568 Malaysians had registered through the e-Konsular system by March 7.
The evacuation follows deteriorating security conditions in West Asia. The US and Israel have continued a large-scale attack on Iran since Feb 28.
Anadolu Ajansi reported the attacks have killed more than 1,200 people, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and Gulf countries hosting US assets.
