Malaysia’s government vows to help MSMEs with logistics and goods disruptions from the West Asia conflict, with analysis ongoing and embassy support mobilised.

KUALA LUMPUR: The government will assist micro, small and medium enterprises in addressing disruptions to goods and services caused by the West Asia conflict.

Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Sim Tze Tzin stated that analysis is ongoing to understand the situation’s full impact.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had previously acknowledged the conflict would affect the Malaysian economy.

Sim highlighted potential issues with logistics and goods passing through conflict zones.

“This challenge is not only faced by Malaysia but also by countries worldwide,” he said in the Dewan Negara.

He was responding to a senator’s query about MITI’s strategy to mitigate problems for MSMEs.

The ministry will provide support through its officials and embassies in the region.

“We will act proactively,” Sim assured.

He added that reports from embassies and agencies like MATRADE and MIDA are needed for appropriate action.
