ISKANDAR PUTERI, Oct 8 — Ten foreigners were injured early this morning after the boat they were travelling in collided with a marine police vessel near the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) jetty in Gelang Patah.
According to the Johor Bahru Civil Defence Force (APM), the incident occurred at about 3.58am, and rescue personnel were dispatched to the scene at 4.07am.
“The collision left 10 people injured — five men and four women from Indonesia, as well as one Rohingya woman from Myanmar,” the agency said in a statement.
The victims received on-site paramedic treatment before being taken to Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) in Johor Bahru for further medical care.
The rescue operation involved 15 marine policemen with a patrol boat, along with four HSA medical staff and two emergency teams from St John Ambulance.
Iskandar Puteri police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan confirmed that a police report had been lodged over the incident.
He said the case is still under investigation and further details will be provided once the probe is complete.
