The Malaysian Football League states that the registration of four heritage players as locals for the M-League season followed all competition regulations.

THE Malaysian Football League has confirmed the registration of four heritage players as local players for the 2025-2026 M-League season complied fully with competition regulations.

The league body stated that three Johor Darul Ta’zim players and one Kuching City FC player were registered in accordance with the league manual’s procedures.

The players are Joao Figueiredo, Jon Irazabal, Hector Hevel and Gabriel Palmero.

According to the MFL, the registration was guided by the Malaysia League Manual Edition 2025-2026.

It specifically cited Article 3 covering the registration and transfer system for officials and players.

The manual requires the submission of a coloured copy of an identity card or passport for registration under the MYPAS system.

This requirement was further clarified in a circular letter issued to all M-League clubs on June 12, 2025.

Clause 8.2 of that circular states the documents must be updated and uploaded in PDF format for approval.

The MFL stated that the four players completed registration using valid identity cards issued by the National Registration Department.

It stressed there has been no breach of regulations in their registration by the respective clubs.

However, the MFL clarified the players must still serve a 12-month suspension from official matches.

This suspension was recently decided by FIFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The four are among seven national team players sanctioned for falsifying eligibility documents.
