A Malaysian woman claims she bought sour, stale popiah basah from a stall in Bazaar Kuala Selangor

A Malaysian woman has taken to social media to voice her disappointment after purchasing what she claims was spoilt popiah basah (or spring rolls) from a stall at Kuala Selangor Bazaar.

The woman, who had previously visited the same stall due to its reputation for tasty spring rolls, said her most recent experience was far from satisfactory.

Unlike her earlier visits, the popiah she brought home this time allegedly carried a sour smell, raising concerns about its freshness.

Sharing her experience on Threads.com, she questioned how a vendor could knowingly sell food that was clearly past its best. “It was not just spoilt — it had a sourish smell. How could you sell this to people?” she wrote.

She recounted how she had purchased two packs and invited her mother to try them.

Upon taking her first bite, she immediately sensed something was off, confirming her suspicion that the food had gone bad.

The woman noted that she had never intended to draw attention to any food establishment, whether for praise or criticism.

However, the incident had left her frustrated enough to speak out. “How can you sell something that is obviously stale?” she asked.
